Niagara Falls Helicopter Tour Cost 2026 — Exact Prices in CAD, Compared
Published June 11, 2026 · Niagara Falls Guide
A helicopter tour over Niagara Falls is one of the most memorable ways to see the Falls — but prices vary more than most visitors realise. Here is what you will actually pay in 2026, in Canadian dollars, with no surprises at checkout.
What Do Niagara Falls Helicopter Tours Cost in 2026?
| Tour Company | Tour Type | Duration | Price (CAD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Helicopters | Falls View Classic | 12–15 min | $199–$249/person |
| National Helicopters | Horseshoe Falls & River | 15–18 min | $249–$299/person |
| Canadian Niagara Helicopters | Standard Falls Tour | 9–12 min | $179–$219/person |
| Canadian Niagara Helicopters | Gorge & Falls Extended | 15–20 min | $249–$289/person |
Tip: All operators add a fuel surcharge (roughly $10–$20 per person) that appears at checkout. Book the morning departure for calmer air and better photo light.
Is a Helicopter Tour Worth It?
For most visitors, yes — but with one caveat. The 9–12 minute tours fly fast and end before you have processed what you have seen. The 15–20 minute extended tours allow a second pass over Horseshoe Falls and give you time to look straight down at the Maid of the Mist below.
If budget is tight, the free view from Queen Victoria Park or Table Rock Welcome Centre is genuinely spectacular and costs nothing. The helicopter adds elevation and scale — the Falls look wider and more powerful from 300 metres up — but the ground-level view is not inferior, just different.
When to Book
Summer (July–August) sells out weeks in advance. Book at least 7 days ahead for weekend flights. Spring and fall offer the same views with shorter queues; May and September are local favourites. Winter tours run but weather cancellations are common from December through March.
Discounts and Packages
- Early morning (first departure): some operators offer 10–15% off for the first flight of the day
- Group bookings (6+): most operators discount $15–$25/person for groups booked at least 48 hours ahead
- Hotel packages: Fallsview hotels often include helicopter vouchers as add-ons — ask your concierge before booking direct
- Combo packages: helicopter + Hornblower/City Cruises boat tour packages save roughly $40 per person vs. booking each separately
Getting There
Both major helipad locations are within 10 minutes of the Falls viewing area. Parking is available at the helipads (paid). Alternatively, the WEGO bus system stops within a short walk — Route Green covers the Fallsview corridor and runs year-round.
What to Bring
Leave large bags at your hotel — helicopters have limited cargo space and bags are stored in a locker at the terminal. Wear layers; it is noticeably colder at altitude even on warm days. Phones and small cameras are welcome; full-size DSLRs with large lenses need to be held close to your body to avoid vibration blur.
Booking Tips for 2026
- Book the extended tour if price is not a barrier — you will not regret the extra time
- Morning departures offer the best photography light (sun behind you, Falls lit from the east)
- Check the weather forecast the night before; operators will reschedule at no charge if conditions are poor
- Combine with a Niagara City Cruises boat tour for the complete Horseshoe Falls experience — helicopter above, boat below
