Whirlpool Aero Car: Tickets, Views & Is It Worth It?
An antique cable car 76 metres above the Niagara Whirlpool. Built in 1916. $18 adults. Here's the honest verdict.
What It Is
A cable car crossing 1,070 metres over the Niagara Whirlpool — a Class 6 whirlpool 4km downstream from Horseshoe Falls. Designed by Spanish engineer Leonardo Torres Quevedo, opened 1916, still running on the original design. Carries up to 35 passengers, 76 metres above the water.
The Experience
10 minutes round-trip. Slow ride — this is about the view, not the thrill. You look directly into the rotating whirlpool. On windy days the car sways slightly (normal, part of the design). Great for photography from both sides.
Is It Worth $18?
Yes, as a 10-minute add-on while driving the Niagara Parkway. No, if choosing between this and the boat tour or Power Station — those are more impactful. The whirlpool is visible for free from the gorge rim; the aero car adds the aerial perspective.
Practical Details
