In This Guide
The Good News
The Canadian promenade — the main falls viewing area — is fully accessible. Flat, paved, wide enough for wheelchairs and scooters, with ramp access to all viewing areas. Table Rock Welcome Centre has accessible washrooms, elevators, and a gift shop.
The falls themselves are fully visible from wheelchair-accessible viewpoints. The best views in Niagara are the most accessible ones.
Attractions: What Works
Niagara City Cruises (boat tour): Wheelchair accessible. The boat has an accessible deck. Staff assist with boarding. The viewing areas on the boat accommodate wheelchairs.
Niagara Parks Power Station: Elevator access to the tunnel level. The tunnel itself is flat and paved. Fully accessible.
Journey Behind the Falls: Elevator to the tunnels, but the tunnel passages are narrow and wet. Wheelchair accessible but tight.
Skylon Tower: Elevator to the observation deck. Fully accessible.
Butterfly Conservatory: Fully accessible. Flat paths, wide doorways, climate-controlled.
What's NOT Accessible
Niagara Glen: The descent is 300+ stone stairs. Not accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, or anyone with significant mobility limitations.
Devil's Hole / Whirlpool trail: Steep, uneven trail. Not accessible.
Cave of the Winds (US side): Involves stairs and wet, slippery wooden walkways. Not wheelchair accessible.
Whirlpool Aero Car: The boarding platform requires steps. Not fully accessible.
Most gorge trails are rim-level only for wheelchair access — the descent trails are not accessible.
Parking and Transport
Accessible parking is available at all Niagara Parks lots (Table Rock, Butterfly Conservatory, Queenston Heights). Display your permit.
WEGO buses are wheelchair accessible with ramps and designated spaces.
The promenade and most hotel areas are flat and paved. Clifton Hill has an uphill grade that may require assistance.
Wheelchair and Scooter Rentals
Niagara Parks rents wheelchairs at Table Rock Welcome Centre (first-come, first-served, $20/day).
