Niagara Falls Event Calendar 2026 — Monthly Festivals, Wine & Music Dates (Canadian Side)

This is a month-by-month calendar of the major festivals and events that take place on or near the Niagara Peninsula in 2026 — wineries, concerts, cultural moments and seasonal celebrations. It covers both the city of Niagara Falls proper (where the Falls are) and the wider Niagara region (Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Port Dalhousie), since most visitors base themselves near the Falls and day-trip into these areas.

Dates are as listed by organizers at time of writing. Always call ahead or check the official event page before you travel — weather can change schedules, some events sell out (especially wine tastings), and minor weekend dates shift from year to year.

Where an event is free, it says "free". Where tickets apply, cost is listed if publicly confirmed.

No supplier names are used. All references use public place names or the Niagara Falls Tourism / Visit Canada calendar.

**Winter Festival of Lights finale — January 1–4, 2026 (free).** The tail of last year's Winter Festival of Lights runs through New Year's Day on the Niagara Parkway, with nightly fireworks ending on January 4 at 8 PM. Falls illumination continues past midnight during these nights. Table Rock and Queen Victoria Park are the free viewing points.

**Maid of the Mist cruise (year-round, weather permitting).** The Maid of the Mist boat ride is scheduled almost daily all year — the exact schedule is posted by Niagara Parks and shifts seasonally; check before travelling.

Tip: January is the cheapest month to stay at a Fallsview hotel. Traffic is minimal on the Falls side and parking everywhere is free.

The peninsula is quiet in February but the wine region starts its tasting season early (most wineries open for tastings from March depending on weather).

**Dufferin Islands / Table Rock Welcome Centre.** Open daily; the museum inside Table Rock opens when the centre does.

No large-scale festivals are scheduled on the Canadian side of Niagara in February. If you're in town over Valentine's weekend (February 13–15, 2026), Oakes Garden Theatre and The Exchange are good free or low-cost evening options for a walk without planning far ahead.

**Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory (year-round, indoor).** The conservatory in Queen Victoria Park is open all year; the season kicks off here as outdoor attractions start reopening later this month.

**Maid of the Mist.** Early season cruises generally begin during this period (check Niagara Parks for opening date).

The Niagara Wine Tasting Season opens at most wineries late March — expect two-tastings minimum in April across the region's 40+ wineries, many within 15 minutes of each other once you're on the Niagara Parkway / Lakeshore Route.

**Wine Festival preview: spring tastings at most Niagara Peninsula wineries.** This is the quiet month before Grape & Wine — book a small-group wine tasting tour on Canada's Niagara side (Niagara-on-the-Lake or St. Catharines) for one of your visit days; 2–3 hours per loop is standard.

**Niagara Falls Ice Festival / Spring Light Display** runs early-to-mid April depending on melt — confirm dates in year-specific announcements from Niagara Parks before planning around it.

**Table Rock Centre and Dufferin Islands.** Standard spring opening begins the first week of April.

**Fireworks season opens — Fridays & Sundays at 10 PM, late May through early October (free).** The summer fireworks series starts in the second or third week of May and runs each Friday/Sunday on Canada Day weekend with an extended show. The illumination begins slightly earlier as days lengthen.

**Niagara-on-the-Lake Flower Festival** — confirm 2026 dates; a spring walkable event along NOTL's waterfront (free). Typical mid-May timing in the past.

Recommended booking: table rock and Oakes Garden Theatre on any Friday/Sunday evening. Arrival before the fireworks at Table Rock is comfortable to crowd if coming 30+ mins early.

**Niagara Jazz Festival — June 25–28, 2026 (Niagara-on-the-Lake).** International jazz line-up across vineyards and NOTL stages; tickets available through the festival. The festival runs in partnership with local venues and some are free to wander into if you can find a seat.

**Niagara Falls Fireworks.** Fridays & Sundays at 10 PM (free, Table Rock / Oakes / any promenade point).

**Maid of the Mist + Skylon Tower combo days.** This is peak season for the falls side — book Maid of the Mist online if you can to skip the queue.

**Cycling.** The Niagara Parkway is open full-time; many 20–30 km loops can be done in a morning from the Falls into NOTL and back.

**Wine Fest at The Exchange — July 11, 2026 (Sat), noon–5 PM.** Inaugural city-run wine fest with Canadian wineries, live performances (Mo Guzman and Blind Mule listed) and local food. General admission $29.95 with commemorative tasting glass + 4 tokens; extra tokens at the door.

**Niagara Jazz Festival — July 4–5, 2026.** Weekend Two is in St. Catharines & Port Dalhousie (world music on beach launch). Free for some components.

Tips: July is peak travel season. Niagara-on-the-Lake winery tastings book up by midday — arrive before noon or go to smaller estates (Sandhill, Tinhorn Creek) for an easier tasting booking on a last-minute day trip.

**Niagara Falls Fireworks.** Friday / Sunday at 10 PM (free). This is when the mist cloud is warmest and light show + fireworks combination looks best.

**Shaw Festival begins (St. Catharines)** — major theatre festival; confirm 2026 season dates through their site; performances run into fall.

**Niagara-on-the-Lake wine tours.** Most wineries are open for tastings; book a car + driver or use the regional pick-up shuttle if driving yourself is not feasible.

Tip: The Falls side of August is hot and humid; evening (7–10 PM) is the best window to combine the Falls illumination, a fireworks show on a Friday/Sunday, and a table-top dinner.

**Fireworks series concludes early-to-mid October.** Fridays / Sundays continue through the first half of October before the winter lights season begins.

**Niagara Grape & Wine Festival — September 24–27, 2026 (St. Catharines).** The flagship wine event; daily programming across that weekend near Ontario St.; tickets per event or general entry depending on ticket class chosen.

**Niagara Falls autumn / harvest season at NOTL.** Not all wineries extend open season into October — check individual estate calendars before planning a late-September tasting day trip.

The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory is still open through this season; last tickets usually sell before winter.

**Niagara Wine Trail / late-harvest tastings.** A handful of estates (those that stay open into the autumn) offer late-season pinot noir and icewine-adjacent tours; book any harvest-time tasting through your chosen winery's site.

**Niagara Falls Fireworks wrap-up.** Final Friday/Saturday shows before winter begin mid-to-late October depending on weather in 2026 (confirm exact dates when the season list is released).

Tip: Late-October Niagara is a shoulder month — hotels are significantly cheaper than July, and you can still get clear daytime views of the Falls.

**Winter Festival of Lights opens — November 14–15, 2026** (exact opening date depends on when Niagara Parks finalizes; prior season opened Nov 15 to run through Jan 4). Eight-km light route along the Niagara Parkway + Dufferin Islands + Falls-side attractions. Fireworks typically every weekend 8 PM throughout the festival period.

Free. No reservation needed, but Table Rock and Queen Victoria Park are crowded on holidays (Thanksgiving November) and December.

Ice forms on the face of Horseshoe Falls in late-December or January — if timing a winter trip for ice photography, plan around mid-to-late December.

**Winter Festival of Lights at full swing.** Nightly illumination + laser light shows on most nights (7–9 PM across the Dufferin / Parkway area); fireworks scheduled around each weekend and on holiday periods (Dec 31 NYE is a big extended show in prior editions).
